With India celebrating its 77th Independence Day, Truminds too got into the spirit with a celebratory event which was conducted in our Gurgaon office and was attended by all the members of the Truminds family globally. Rakesh Vij, CEO Truminds, set the tone for the event where he recalled his fascination towards Bhagat Singh, who made the ultimate sacrifice at the young age of 23, a revolutionary who took on the British colonists at an age where today’s generation is busy making career plans.
On this special occasion, we had Lt. General Vinay Sharma as our Chief Guest, an inspiring personality, and a second-generation army man, Lt. General Sharma has served in the 1971 War of Liberation in Bangladesh and commanded formations in Jammu and Kashmir. He has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal for his 40 years of service in the Indian Army. When Lt. General Sharma joined the Indian Army, his first reporting was on the war front for the Bangladesh liberation war. After vanquishing the Pakistan Army in 1971, he was then a part of Indian Army operations in tackling several domestic conflicts as well as on the border operations. Notable among these responsibilities were being a company commander in Nagaland dealing with the Naga insurgents and serving as a commanding officer in the anti-terrorist operations in Punjab in the 80s. He was also a brigade commander along the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K).
Listening to his repertoire of experiences in conflict handling and resolution was an enriching experience. Lt. General Sharma’s inspiring speech was followed by a quiz on Indian history, geography, and culture and then by a stage performance by the employees celebrating independent India’s history and achievements.
It was another absolutely joyful event where we had an inspiring session from Lt. General Vinay Sharma followed by enthusiastic participation from all our attendees in fun activities.
